kprobes: don't call disarm_kprobe() for disabled kprobes
The assumption in __disable_kprobe() is wrong, and it could try to disarm
an already disarmed kprobe and fire the WARN_ONCE() below. [0] We can
easily reproduce this issue.
1. Write 0 to /sys/kernel/debug/kprobes/enabled.
# echo 0 > /sys/kernel/debug/kprobes/enabled
2. Run execsnoop. At this time, one kprobe is disabled.
# /usr/share/bcc/tools/execsnoop &
[1] 2460
PCOMM PID PPID RET ARGS
# cat /sys/kernel/debug/kprobes/list
ffffffff91345650 r __x64_sys_execve+0x0 [FTRACE]
ffffffff91345650 k __x64_sys_execve+0x0 [DISABLED][FTRACE]
3. Write 1 to /sys/kernel/debug/kprobes/enabled, which changes
kprobes_all_disarmed to false but does not arm the disabled kprobe.
# echo 1 > /sys/kernel/debug/kprobes/enabled
# cat /sys/kernel/debug/kprobes/list
ffffffff91345650 r __x64_sys_execve+0x0 [FTRACE]
ffffffff91345650 k __x64_sys_execve+0x0 [DISABLED][FTRACE]
4. Kill execsnoop, when __disable_kprobe() calls disarm_kprobe() for the
disabled kprobe and hits the WARN_ONCE() in __disarm_kprobe_ftrace().
# fg
/usr/share/bcc/tools/execsnoop
^C
Actually, WARN_ONCE() is fired twice, and __unregister_kprobe_top() misses
some cleanups and leaves the aggregated kprobe in the hash table. Then,
__unregister_trace_kprobe() initialises tk->rp.kp.list and creates an
infinite loop like this.
aggregated kprobe.list -> kprobe.list -.
^ |
'.__.'
In this situation, these commands fall into the infinite loop and result
in RCU stall or soft lockup.
cat /sys/kernel/debug/kprobes/list : show_kprobe_addr() enters into the
infinite loop with RCU.
/usr/share/bcc/tools/execsnoop : warn_kprobe_rereg() holds kprobe_mutex,
and __get_valid_kprobe() is stuck in
the loop.
To avoid the issue, make sure we don't call disarm_kprobe() for disabled
kprobes.

The issue can be triggered by a broken multipart/form-data request lacking an end boundary to any of OctoPrint's endpoints implemented through the octoprint.server.util.tornado.UploadStorageFallbackHandler request handler. The request handler will get stuck in an endless busy loop, looking for a part of the request that will never come. As Tornado is single-threaded, that will effectively block the whole web server. The vulnerability has been patched in version 1.11.2.Show less |

net_sched: hfsc: Address reentrant enqueue adding class to eltree twice
Savino says:
"We are writing to report that this recent patch
(141d34391abbb315d68556b7c67ad97885407547) [1]
can be bypassed, and a UAF can still occur when HFSC is utilized with
NETEM.
The patch only checks the cl->cl_nactive field to determine whether
it is the first insertion or not [2], but this field is only
incremented by init_vf [3].
By using HFSC_RSC (which uses init_ed) [4], it is possible to bypass the
check and insert the class twice in the eltree.
Under normal conditions, this would lead to an infinite loop in
hfsc_dequeue for the reasons we already explained in this report [5].
However, if TBF is added as root qdisc and it is configured with a
very low rate,
it can be utilized to prevent packets from being dequeued.
This behavior can be exploited to perform subsequent insertions in the
HFSC eltree and cause a UAF."
To fix both the UAF and the infinite loop, with netem as an hfsc child,
check explicitly in hfsc_enqueue whether the class is already in the eltree
whenever the HFSC_RSC flag is set.

page_pool: avoid infinite loop to schedule delayed worker
We noticed the kworker in page_pool_release_retry() was waken
up repeatedly and infinitely in production because of the
buggy driver causing the inflight less than 0 and warning
us in page_pool_inflight()[1].
Since the inflight value goes negative, it means we should
not expect the whole page_pool to get back to work normally.
This patch mitigates the adverse effect by not rescheduling
the kworker when detecting the inflight negative in
page_pool_release_retry().

The problem is that the inode contains an xattr entry with ea_inum of 15
when cleaning up an orphan inode <15>. When evict inode <15>, the reference
counting of the corresponding EA inode is decreased. When EA inode <15> is
found by find_inode_fast() in __ext4_iget(), it is found that the EA inode
holds the I_FREEING flag and waits for the EA inode to complete deletion.
As a result, when inode <15> is being deleted, we wait for inode <15> to
complete the deletion, resulting in an infinite loop and triggering Hung
Task. To solve this problem, we only need to check whether the ino of EA
inode and parent is the same before getting EA inode.Show less |

wifi: ath11k: fix RCU stall while reaping monitor destination ring
While processing the monitor destination ring, MSDUs are reaped from the
link descriptor based on the corresponding buf_id.
However, sometimes the driver cannot obtain a valid buffer corresponding
to the buf_id received from the hardware. This causes an infinite loop
in the destination processing, resulting in a kernel crash.
kernel log:
ath11k_pci 0000:58:00.0: data msdu_pop: invalid buf_id 309

Fix this by skipping the problematic buf_id and reaping the next entry,
replacing the break with the next MSDU processing.

A PCRE rule can be written that leads to an infinite loop when negated PCRE is used. Packet processing thread becomes stuck in infinite loop limiting visibility and availability in inline mode. This vulnerability is fixed in 7.0.9.Show less |

Incorrect number DER encoding can lead to denial on service for absolute values in the range 2**31 -- 2**32 - 1. The arithmetic in the numBitLen didn't take into account that values in this range could result in a negative result upon applying the >> operator, leading to an infinite loop. The issue is patched in version 1.0.4. If upgrading is not an option, the issue can be mitigated by validating inputs to Asn1Integer to ensure that they are not smaller than -2**31 + 1 and no larger than 2**31 - 1.Show less |

net_sched: Prevent creation of classes with TC_H_ROOT
The function qdisc_tree_reduce_backlog() uses TC_H_ROOT as a termination
condition when traversing up the qdisc tree to update parent backlog
counters. However, if a class is created with classid TC_H_ROOT, the
traversal terminates prematurely at this class instead of reaching the
actual root qdisc, causing parent statistics to be incorrectly maintained.
In case of DRR, this could lead to a crash as reported by Mingi Cho.
Prevent the creation of any Qdisc class with classid TC_H_ROOT
(0xFFFFFFFF) across all qdisc types, as suggested by Jamal.Show less |

btrfs: zoned: fix extent range end unlock in cow_file_range()
Running generic/751 on the for-next branch often results in a hang like
below. They are both stack by locking an extent. This suggests someone
forget to unlock an extent.

This happens because we have another success path for the zoned mode. When
there is no active zone available, btrfs_reserve_extent() returns
-EAGAIN. In this case, we have two reactions.
(1) If the given range is never allocated, we can only wait for someone
to finish a zone, so wait on BTRFS_FS_NEED_ZONE_FINISH bit and retry
afterward.
(2) Or, if some allocations are already done, we must bail out and let
the caller to send IOs for the allocation. This is because these IOs
may be necessary to finish a zone.
The commit 06f364284794 ("btrfs: do proper folio cleanup when
cow_file_range() failed") moved the unlock code from the inside of the
loop to the outside. So, previously, the allocated extents are unlocked
just after the allocation and so before returning from the function.
However, they are no longer unlocked on the case (2) above. That caused
the hang issue.
Fix the issue by modifying the 'end' to the end of the allocated
range. Then, we can exit the loop and the same unlock code can properly
handle the case.Show less |
