In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: module: ensure that kobject_put() is safe for module type kobjects In 'lookup_or_create_module_kobject()', an internal kobject is created using 'module_ktype'. So call to 'kobject_put()' on error handling path causes an attempt to use an uninitialized completion pointer in 'module_kobject_release()'. In this scenario, we just want to release kobject without an extra synchronization required for a regular module unloading process, so adding an extra check whether 'complete()' is actually required makes 'kobject_put()' safe.Show less

Luxion KeyShot PVS File Parsing Access of Uninitialized Pointer Remote Code Execution Vulnerability. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of Luxion KeyShot. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The specific flaw exists within the parsing of pvs files. The issue results from the lack of proper initialization of a pointer prior to accessing it. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the current process. Was ZDI-CAN-23694.Show less

A vulnerability was found in libzvbi up to 0.2.43. It has been classified as problematic. Affected is the function vbi_strndup_iconv_ucs2 of the file src/conv.c. The manipulation of the argument src_length leads to uninitialized pointer. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploit has been disclosed to the public and may be used. Upgrading to version 0.2.44 is able to address this issue. The patch is identified as 8def647eea27f7fd7ad33ff79c2d6d3e39948dce. It is recommended to upgrade the affected component. The code maintainer was informed beforehand about the issues. She reacted very fast and highly professional.Show less

An access to an uninitialized pointer flaw was found in X.Org and Xwayland. The function compCheckRedirect() may fail if it cannot allocate the backing pixmap. In that case, compRedirectWindow() will return a BadAlloc error without validating the window tree marked just before, which leaves the validated data partly initialized and the use of an uninitialized pointer later.Show less

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: exfat: fix the new buffer was not zeroed before writing Before writing, if a buffer_head marked as new, its data must be zeroed, otherwise uninitialized data in the page cache will be written. So this commit uses folio_zero_new_buffers() to zero the new buffers before ->write_end().Show less
