In Splunk Enterprise versions below 10.4.2, 10.2.6, 10.0.9, and 9.4.14, a user who holds the "power" Splunk role could create a malicious Splunk Web tour and cause arbitrary JavaScript to run in the browser of another user when that user opens a crafted tour link. The JavaScript runs in the browser of the affected user, allowing for access to all relevant data available to that user. The Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability is possible because Splunk Web renders tour content and tour navigation links without sufficient output encoding and accepts a tour selector value that can be treated as markup. The vulnerability requires another user to open a crafted tour link. The user who holds the "power" Splunk role should not be able to trigger JavaScript execution in another user's browser without that user interaction.Show less

In Splunk Enterprise versions below 10.4.2, 10.2.6, 10.0.9, and 9.4.14, a user that holds a role with the schedule_search capability could store a malicious script in an alert trigger condition field. When another user opens the crafted link, the script runs in the browser of that user and could access all data available to that user. The vulnerability is possible because Splunk Web uses the alert threshold value in generated alert trigger condition markup without escaping special characters. Successful exploitation requires another user to open the crafted link. For more information see Configure alert trigger conditions (https://help.splunk.com/en/splunk-enterprise/alert-and-respond/alerting-manual/10.4/manage-alert-trigger-conditions-and-throttling/configure-alert-trigger-conditions) and Define roles on the Splunk platform with capabilities (https://help.splunk.com/en/splunk-enterprise/administer/manage-users-and-security/10.2/manage-splunk-platform-users-and-roles/define-roles-on-the-splunk-platform-with-capabilities) in the Splunk documentation.Show less

In Splunk Enterprise versions below 10.4.2, 10.2.6, 10.0.9, and 9.4.13, an unauthenticated user who tricks another user into visiting a malicious web page could run unauthorized JavaScript in that user's browser. This could allow for unauthorized access to all relevant data available to that user and actions that affect system integrity. The Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) is possible because Splunk Web does not validate the origin and source of messages received by a page message handler. The vulnerability requires the attacker to phish the affected user by tricking them into initiating a request within their browser. The unauthenticated user should not be able to exploit the vulnerability at will.Show less

Lemmy is a link aggregator and forum for the fediverse. Prior to lemmy-ui 0.19.19-beta.1, LemmyNet/lemmy-ui renders Markdown in src/shared/markdown.ts for post bodies, comment bodies, private messages, and community and site sidebars through mdToHtml, which returns a raw __html object that Inferno injects without a sanitizer pass. setupMarkdown configures html as false but registers markdown-it-html5-embed@1.0.0 with useImageSyntax enabled, so an image targeting video media becomes a video element whose fallback incorporates the image alt text through unescaped string replacement. The html setting does not apply to plugin-generated output, allowing crafted alt text to reach the DOM as live HTML in contexts that do not use mdToHtmlNoImages. An approved member or a remote federated instance can store such content, and a viewer who renders it may execute JavaScript in the lemmy-ui origin, exposing the viewer's session and authenticated actions. The advisory notes that Content Security Policy prevents the described exploit in production, but also states that the tested default self-hosted deployment serves no Content-Security-Policy. This issue is fixed in lemmy-ui version 0.19.19-beta.1.Show less

Wekan is open source kanban built with Meteor. From 8.72 until 10.23, addBoardHTMLToZip() in client/lib/exportHTML.js read a card title and body through textContent, which decoded entity-encoded markup, and then interpolated titleText and allText into content.innerHTML in the exported index.html. A board member could store an entity-encoded event-handler payload in a card title that remained inert on the live board but was reparsed and executed when a recipient clicked the card in the downloaded HTML export, allowing the script to read and transmit all board data contained in that export, including content added after the attacker's membership was removed. Version 10.23 builds the modal with DOM nodes and assigns untrusted values through textContent. This issue is fixed in version 10.23.Show less

pfSense Plus before 26.07 and pfSense CE through 2.8.1 contain a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability in the Traffic Graphs top-talkers feature, where PTR records returned by reverse DNS lookups are incorporated without sanitization into AJAX responses and rendered as HTML through a DOM sink in the administrator interface. An attacker who controls a PTR record and generates sufficient traffic to appear as a top talker can execute arbitrary JavaScript in an administrator's browser, gaining access to the authenticated session context and same-origin access to the firewall management interface, enabling account creation and arbitrary OS command execution.Show less

Etherpad is a real-time collaborative editor. Prior to 3.3.0, getHTMLFromAtext in src/node/utils/ExportHtml.ts interpolates values from the exportHtmlAdditionalTagsWithData plugin hook into span data attributes without HTML attribute escaping. A pad editor can place an attacker-controlled value into the attribute pool through moveOpsToNewPool and AttributePool.putAttrib. When a bundled plugin such as ep_font_color or ep_font_size registers the hook, opening the resulting HTML export causes the value to execute as stored cross-site scripting in the Etherpad origin. This issue is fixed in version 3.3.0.Show less

Etherpad is a real-time collaborative editor. From 2.1.0 until 3.1.0, Etherpad uses the attacker-controlled x-proxy-path request header in src/node/hooks/express/admin.ts when substituting paths into HTML, JavaScript, and CSS under /admin without sanitization, Vary: x-proxy-path, or Cache-Control: private, no-store. A shared proxy or CDN can cache the resulting response and serve attacker-injected script to an administrator. In src/node/hooks/express/specialpages.ts, version 3.0.0 also accepts a protocol-relative x-proxy-path value when constructing the /p/:pad/timeslider redirect, allowing redirection to an attacker-controlled host. The issues are exploitable when the deployment permits client-supplied x-proxy-path headers to reach Etherpad. This issue is fixed in version 3.1.0.Show less

Etherpad is a real-time collaborative editor. Prior to 3.3.1, result.appendSpan in src/static/js/domline.ts interpolates the start attribute of a numbered list directly into an unquoted ol start attribute before assigning the generated markup to node.innerHTML. ImportEtherpad.setPadRaw in src/node/utils/ImportEtherpad.ts accepts attacker-controlled attribute-pool values from a crafted .etherpad import, including list:number1 and a malicious start value. Any user with write access to a pad can store markup that executes as cross-site scripting when another user opens the pad or /timeslider, including when an administrator views the pad. Snipe-IT is an IT asset/license management system. Prior to 8.6.2, a stored manufacturer or supplier name passed as the table component $name becomes data-selected-count-id in resources/views/partials/bootstrap-table.blade.php. Client-side code reads the browser-decoded countId, uses it as a selector, concatenates countId.substring(1) into an HTML string, and passes the string to jQuery .after(). A crafted name can therefore execute JavaScript when an authenticated user views the manufacturer detail page or supplier detail page, potentially exposing data or actions available to that session. This issue is fixed in version 8.6.2.Show less

Grav Shortcode Core Plugin allows for the development shortcode plugins that utilize the common format utilized by WordPress and BBCode. Prior to 6.2.2, Grav Shortcode Core passes shortcode syntax through Security::detectXss() because it contains no literal less-than character, then ColorShortcode.php and related attribute handlers concatenate an attacker-controlled parameter into HTML without encoding. Grav API Plugin is a RESTful API for Grav CMS that provides full headless access to your site's content. Prior to 1.0.2, the Grav API plugin POST /api/v1/media pipeline in HandlesMediaUploads::processUploadedFile() validates an SVG filename extension but does not invoke Security::sanitizeSVG(). An attacker with api.media.write permission can store an SVG containing JavaScript, and the server returns the file as Content-Type: image/svg+xml so the script executes when a victim opens it, allowing session data theft and authenticated actions. SiYuan before v3.7.4 contains a cross-site scripting vulnerability in the file-tree picker's hover-tooltip generation (app/src/util/pathName.ts, getLeaf()/movePathTo()) used by the 'move/link to' path-selection dialogs, where document metadata fields (bookmark, alias, memo, and an alternate name field) are concatenated into the aria-label HTML attribute without escaping. A document crafted with a double quote in any of these fields breaks out of the attribute context and injects arbitrary HTML attributes including inline event handlers (e.g., onmouseover). Because every SiYuan Electron BrowserWindow runs with nodeIntegration:true, contextIsolation:false, and no CSP, the injected handler gains require('child_process') access, escalating the XSS to arbitrary OS command execution when a victim merely hovers over the malicious document entry in the path-picker dialog. Malicious documents reach victims via sharing, sync, or import.Show less
