Release of Invalid Pointer or Reference

Pillow is a Python imaging library. From 10.0.0 until 13.0.0, Pillow can free an invalid glyph pointer during FreeType rendering with an active stroker. If FT_Load_Glyph fails, cleanup may call FT_Done_Glyph on an uninitialized or stale glyph variable. An attacker can supply a malformed font as untrusted bytes to an application that draws text with a nonzero stroke width, forcing the glyph-load failure path. This can corrupt memory or crash the process. This issue is fixed in version 13.0.0.Show less

libIEC61850 is an open-source implementation of IEC 61850 client and server protocols including MMS, GOOSE, Sampled Values, and R-Session. Prior to 1.6.2, Reporting_RCBWriteAccessHandler accepts an RptID longer than 129 bytes in the report-control-block write path. When GI later causes sendNextReportEntrySegment to serialize the report, the function wraps rptIdBuf[130] as a temporary MmsValue and passes it to MmsValue_setVisibleString. The setter's resize path frees the stack-backed buffer, allowing a remote client to trigger an invalid free and server crash by writing the oversized RptID and then generating a report. This issue is fixed in version 1.6.2.Show less

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: staging: rtl8723bs: fix mismatched free of HalData in rtw_sdio_if1_init() padapter->HalData is allocated via vzalloc(), but incorrectly freed using kfree() in the rtw_sdio_if1_init() error path. Using kfree() to release this vmalloc-backed buffer can lead to memory corruption. Use rtw_hal_data_deinit() to pair the free correctly and free HalData with vfree(). The bug was first flagged by an experimental static analysis tool we are developing for kernel memory-management bugs. Manual inspection confirms that the issue is still present in current mainline. An x86_64 allyesconfig build showed no new warnings. As we do not have suitable RTL8723BS SDIO hardware to test with, no runtime testing was able to be performed.Show less

An invalid pointer release vulnerability exists in YARA 4.5.8 during deserialization of compiled .yrc rule files. The vulnerability is caused by insufficient validation of external-variable pointers, which may lead to invalid free in yr_rules_destroy() or wild pointer access in yr_object_create(). An attacker can provide a specially crafted .yrc file that causes memory corruption and application crash.Show less

A flaw was found in libxml2 with Python bindings enabled. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by providing a specially crafted XML document containing a Document Type Definition (DTD) with enumerated attribute values. This triggers a double-free error in the SAX attributeDecl callback handler, where a string is freed twice. This flaw can lead to a denial of service (DoS) due to a reproducible crash in Python applications using the libxml2 SAX bindings.Show less

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ethtool: tsinfo: don't pass ERR_PTR to genlmsg_cancel on prepare failure The goto err label leads to: genlmsg_cancel(skb, ehdr); return ret; If ethnl_tsinfo_prepare_dump() failed, it has not started a genlmsg. There's nothing to cancel, and passing an error pointer to genlmsg_cancel() would cause a crash.Show less
