FreeScout is a free help desk and shared inbox built with PHP's Laravel framework. Prior to version 1.8.224, the public endpoint `POST /user-setup/{hash}/{invite_sent_at}` (`OpenController@userSetupSave`) selects the target account solely by its `invite_hash` column, then overwrites that account's email and password and logs in as it. No authentication, cookie, or prior session is required. After a user activates, FreeScout sets `invite_hash` to the empty string. On MySQL and MariaDB, `VARCHAR` equality ignores trailing spaces, so a single URL-encoded space (`%20`) matches the stored empty string and selects the lowest-id activated user. The expiry guard decrypts `invite_sent_at` with the target's password hash, but `Helper::decrypt` returns its raw input unchanged when decryption fails. A plaintext numeric value such as `9999999999` therefore passes the time-to-live check without any secret. The result is that an anonymous attacker sets the email and password of the lowest-id activated FreeScout account (a support agent, or an administrator if one was added by invitation) and authenticates as that account. Version 1.8.224 contains a fix.Show less

The Essential Addons for Elementor – Popular Elementor Templates & Widgets plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Authenticated Account Takeover via Email Header Injection in all versions up to, and including, 6.6.10 This is due to insufficient server-side validation of a Login/Register widget setting used to construct outgoing email headers — the allowed-values restriction is enforced only in the client-side editor UI and not on the server, and the applied sanitization does not strip or encode CR/LF characters, allowing CRLF sequences stored in that setting to survive into raw mail headers. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Contributor-level access and above, to inject an additional Bcc header into the WordPress administrator's password-reset notification email, receive a copy of a valid administrator password-reset link, and achieve full administrator account takeover.Show less

The SureCart plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to privilege escalation via account takeover in versions up to, and including, 4.2.3. This is due to the plugin not properly validating a user's identity prior to updating their details like email during customer profile synchronization from webhook events. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to change linked user's email addresses, including administrators if the administrator account is linked to a SureCart customer record, and leverage that to reset the user's password and gain access to their account if the customer ID is known.Show less

Pimcore is an Open Source Data & Experience Management Platform. Prior to 2025.4.6 and 2026.1.6, an unauthenticated attacker who knows a valid admin username can take over any Pimcore admin account by sending a password reset request with an attacker-controlled resetPasswordUrl. The server generates a real cryptographic recovery token, appends it to the supplied URL, and emails the link to the victim; when the victim clicks the link, the token is sent to the attacker and can be used with POST /pimcore-studio/api/login/token to authenticate with full admin privileges while bypassing two-factor authentication. This issue is fixed in versions 2025.4.6 and 2026.1.6.Show less

A Weak Password Recovery Mechanism for Forgotten Password exists in Esri Portal for ArcGIS versions 12.1 and earlier on Windows, Linux and Kubernetes. A remote, unauthorized attacker may assume ownership of a user’s account by manipulating this mechanism. ArcGIS Administrators should configure an email server with ArcGIS Enterprise to facilitate user self-service password recovery. The ability for an administrator to reset a user’s password remains unchanged.Show less

Coolify is an open-source and self-hostable tool for managing servers, applications, and databases. Prior to 4.0.0-beta.471, the TrustProxies middleware trusts all proxies ($proxies = '*'), accepting X-Forwarded-Host from any source. The TrustHosts middleware, intended to prevent host header attacks, has a circular caching dependency that prevents it from ever validating hosts. When a password reset is requested, the ResetPassword notification generates the reset URL using url(route(..., false)), which derives the host from the (spoofable) request. An unauthenticated attacker can trigger a password reset email containing a link pointing to an attacker-controlled domain, enabling token theft and account takeover. This issue is fixed in version 4.0.0-beta.471.Show less

FOSSBilling is a free, open-source billing and client management system. In versions 0.5.6 through 0.7.2, when a `ClientPasswordReset` record already exists for a client (from a previous unexpired reset request), subsequent calls to the `reset_password` guest API endpoint reuse the existing token instead of generating a new one. The 15-minute validity window is anchored to the first request's `created_at` timestamp, not the time of the most recent email. An attacker who obtained the original reset link remains able to use it even after the victim requests a new reset, because the original token is never invalidated or rotated. Version 0.8.0 patches the issue. Some workarounds are available. Configure a reverse proxy (e.g., Nginx, Apache, Cloudflare) to apply per-IP rate limiting to the `/client/reset-password` endpoint to minimize the window of opportunity, and/or manually clear expired `client_password_reset` records from the database after a client reports a suspected compromise.Show less

MCO is vulnerable to Account Denial of Service due to improper implementation of password reset functionality. Each password reset request invalidates previously set password as well as previously issued temporary passwords, furthermore, password resets are not limited in any way. An attacker who provides victim's email and answer to their security question, can successfully initiate the reset process and continuously invalidate credentials, effectively locking the victim out of their account. Answering security questions has a limited number of tries which lowers the risk of this vulnerability. Because vendor contact attempts were unsuccessful, the vulnerability has only been confirmed in version 25.3.3.1 but may also affect other versions.Show less

An issue in DokuWiki 2025-05-14b "Librarian" 56.2 allows a remote attacker to create an account via the register function in inc/auth.php. NOTE: this is disputed by the Supplier because this is the intentional behavior when the product is configured for self-registration (a non-default feature). The supplier also notes that there is no configuration migration scenario that would result in the self-registration being enabled without the administrators knowledge.Show less

The SignUp & SignIn plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Authentication Bypass via Weak Password Reset Validation leading to Account Takeover in versions up to, and including, 1.0.0. This is due to the `pravel_change_password()` AJAX handler — registered via `wp_ajax_nopriv_pravel_change_password` and therefore accessible to unauthenticated users — performing no nonce verification, no capability check, and only a loose equality check between an attacker-supplied `reset_activation_code` POST parameter and the target user's `forgot_email` user meta value; when a user has never initiated a password reset, `get_user_meta()` returns an empty string that trivially satisfies this check against an omitted or empty attacker-supplied code. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to change the password of any WordPress user, including administrators, by sending a crafted POST request to `admin-ajax.php` with `action=pravel_change_password`, `reset_user_id` set to the target account's user ID, and `new_password_custom` set to an attacker-chosen password. Successful exploitation allows the attacker to authenticate with the newly set password and fully take over the targeted account, achieving administrator-level privilege escalation on the affected site.Show less

The Invoice Generator plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Account Takeover via Password Reset in all versions up to, and including, 1.0.0. This is due to the `pravel_invoice_change_password()` function being registered as a nopriv AJAX handler with no nonce verification and no authorization check, and performing a loose equality comparison between the supplied `reset_activation_code` POST parameter and the target user's stored `forgot_email` user meta — a check that trivially evaluates to true (`'' == ''`) for any user who has never initiated a forgot-password request, which applies to administrators under normal conditions. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to supply an arbitrary user ID via the `reset_user_id` POST parameter, bypass the activation code check entirely by omitting `reset_activation_code`, and set the target account's password to an attacker-chosen value, enabling full takeover of any account on the site, including administrator accounts.Show less

Cap-go before 12.128.2 contains an authentication logic flaw that lets an attacker register and control an account bound to a victim's email address before that email is verified. By enabling two-factor authentication on the pre-registered account, the attacker gains control over the account claimed under the victim's identity, allowing them to read and modify its state and enforce organization-level policies, while the legitimate user is denied access to the account tied to their own email.Show less

ApostropheCMS is an open-source Node.js content management system. Versions up to and including 4.29.0 have a password reset flow that constructs the reset URL using `req.hostname`, which is derived directly from the attacker-controlled HTTP `Host` header when `apos.baseUrl` is not explicitly configured. An unauthenticated attacker who knows a victim's email address can send a crafted reset request that causes the application to email the victim a reset link pointing to the attacker's domain. When the victim clicks the link, the valid reset token is delivered to the attacker, enabling full account takeover. As of time of publication, no known patched versions are available.Show less

LimeSurvey constructs account password-reset links from the client-supplied HTTP Host header without validating it. The optional allowedHosts allowlist that would constrain this is undefined in the default (and documented) configuration, so LSHttpRequest::checkIsAllowedHost() results in no operation. A remote, unauthenticated attacker who submits a forgotten-password request for a known account (requiring only the target's username and email) with a spoofed Host header causes LimeSurvey to email that account a reset link whose hostname is attacker-controlled while embedding the genuine validation_key. When the recipient or an automated inbound mail-security link scanner dereferences the link, the valid reset token is disclosed to the attacker, who replays it against the legitimate host's newPassword endpoint to set a new password and take over the account.Show less
