A security issue in MongoDB Server allows an authenticated user with write privileges to trigger a persistent fatal assertion crash by sending specially crafted retryable write commands. The crash state is durably persisted, causing the server process to repeatedly crash on restart and potentially propagating to additional nodes in a sharded cluster. Manual intervention is required to restore service availability.Show less

A security issue in the MongoDB Server's storage engine integration layer allows an authenticated user with collection creation privileges to cause a persistent denial of service. Insufficient validation of user-supplied storage configuration options permits values that, once persisted to durable metadata, trigger a fatal assertion failure when the metadata is subsequently read by diagnostic operations. The corrupted metadata persists across server restarts and is replicated to other cluster members, requiring manual operator intervention to restore service.Show less

A security issue in MongoDB Server allows an unauthenticated network user to cause a denial of service on a specific type of replica set member. The server contains an assertion in its read concern processing logic that can be reached without authentication, and the assertion's assumptions about internal state do not hold for all member configurations, causing the server process to terminate.Show less

An internal aggregation expression in MongoDB Server was incorrectly registered as accessible to any authenticated user rather than being restricted to internal cluster operations. By crafting a malformed index specification within this expression, an authenticated user with read-only privileges could trigger an assertion failure in the index key generation code path. In certain build configurations, this assertion failure results in termination of the mongod process, causing a denial of service to all connected clients.Show less

A flaw was found in libsoup. When a client sends an HTTP/2 request body from a non-pollable input stream, the library can buffer more data than the current flow-control window later allows. A malicious HTTP/2 server can shrink SETTINGS_INITIAL_WINDOW_SIZE while that buffered read is still in progress. The client then copies the full buffer into a smaller DATA callback without a runtime bounds check, which can abort the process or fail the HTTP/2 session.Show less

Improper handling of an unexpected value size in the decryption path of a client-side encryption library can cause a failed internal check that terminates the process using the library. A party able to place a suitably formed encrypted value where an application will decrypt it, or able to control the responses the application receives, may cause that application to stop running.Show less

In FIPS mode, Libreswan's add_decoded_cert() function calls CERT_ExtractPublicKey() and asserts that the result is not NULL. However, CERT_ExtractPublicKey() returns NULL when public key extraction fails, for example if the RSA exponent is set to 0. A remote attacker can send a malformed X.509 certificate in a CERT payload to trigger the assertion, causing the pluto daemon to abort and restart. Continued exploitation causes a denial of service. No remote code execution is possible. Both IKEv1 and IKEv2 are affected. The vulnerability is only exploitable when both the OS and libreswan are running in FIPS mode and at least one CA certificate is loaded. The CERT payload is processed before peer authentication, so no credentials are needed to exploit this. Configurations using only PreSharedKey (PSK) authentication with no CA certificates loaded in the NSS database are not vulnerable.Show less

A weakness has been identified in Open5GS up to 2.7.7. The affected element is the function smf_nudm_sdm_handle_get of the file src/smf/nudm-handler.c of the component SMF. Executing a manipulation of the argument preemptCap can lead to reachable assertion. The attack may be launched remotely. Upgrading to version 2.8.0 is sufficient to fix this issue. This patch is called 4554405f29bffd7562abedbee63484825bd90cd5. You should upgrade the affected component.Show less

Any remote client can crash a (debugging/non-release build type) NSD serve child by sending it a special crafted message with a specially tuned number of DNS Cookie options (17 when UDP payload size is 512). By continuously crashing the serve childs, the remote client can severely hamper or, when positioned sufficiently close, deny all DNS service.Show less

OpenEXR is the reference implementation and specification for the EXR image format, widely used in the motion picture industry. In versions 3.4.0 through 3.4.12, a crafted HTJ2K-compressed EXR file causes an unconditional process abort in any application that calls exr_start_read() on untrusted input, resulting in denial of service. The crash is triggered by a QCD marker whose lower five bits are zero, which OpenEXR passes into the vendored OpenJPH library while constructing the codestream and evaluating its quantization delta parameters. OpenJPH uses an assertion rather than a recoverable error to validate those bits, so any invalid value calls abort() directly and cannot be intercepted by surrounding error handling, a problem compounded by OpenEXR wrapping only its internal HT header parser in error handling while leaving the later codestream read and construction calls unprotected. This issue has been resolved in version 3.4.13.Show less

Libevent is an event notification library. Prior to 2.1.13 and 2.2.2-alpha, libevent has a heap out-of-bounds write in bufferevent_sock.c when bufferevent_socket_set_conn_address_ copies a kernel-supplied AF_UNIX peer address into bufferevent_private.conn_address. Release builds compiled with NDEBUG disable the EVUTIL_ASSERT length guard, and the evhttp accept path can pass a 110-byte sockaddr from accept() into the 28-byte field. An unauthenticated local peer able to connect to an AF_UNIX listener can overwrite the adjacent dns_request pointer and heap data, causing memory corruption with confidentiality, integrity, and availability impact. This issue is fixed in versions 2.1.13 and 2.2.2-alpha.Show less
