Use After Free

The product reuses or references memory after it has been freed. At some point afterward, the memory may be allocated again and saved in another pointer, while the original pointer references a location somewhere within the new allocation. Any operations using the original pointer are no longer valid because the memory "belongs" to the code that operates on the new pointer.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: f2fs: fix to avoid UAF in f2fs_write_end_io() As syzbot reported an use-after-free issue in f2fs_write_end_io(). It is caused by below race condition: loop device umount - worker_thread - loop_process_work - do_req_filebacked - lo_rw_aio - lo_rw_aio_complete - blk_mq_end_request - blk_update_request - f2fs_write_end_io - dec_page_count - folio_end_writeback - kill_f2fs_super - kill_block_super - f2fs_put_super : free(sbi) : get_pages(, F2FS_WB_CP_DATA) accessed sbi which is freed In kill_f2fs_super(), we will drop all page caches of f2fs inodes before call free(sbi), it guarantee that all folios should end its writeback, so it should be safe to access sbi before last folio_end_writeback(). Let's relocate ckpt thread wakeup flow before folio_end_writeback() to resolve this issue.Show less

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfilter: nf_tables: fix use-after-free in nf_tables_addchain() nf_tables_addchain() publishes the chain to table->chains via list_add_tail_rcu() (in nft_chain_add()) before registering hooks. If nf_tables_register_hook() then fails, the error path calls nft_chain_del() (list_del_rcu()) followed by nf_tables_chain_destroy() with no RCU grace period in between. This creates two use-after-free conditions: 1) Control-plane: nf_tables_dump_chains() traverses table->chains under rcu_read_lock(). A concurrent dump can still be walking the chain when the error path frees it. 2) Packet path: for NFPROTO_INET, nf_register_net_hook() briefly installs the IPv4 hook before IPv6 registration fails. Packets entering nft_do_chain() via the transient IPv4 hook can still be dereferencing chain->blob_gen_X when the error path frees the chain. Add synchronize_rcu() between nft_chain_del() and the chain destroy so that all RCU readers -- both dump threads and in-flight packet evaluation -- have finished before the chain is freed.Show less

FreeRDP is a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol. Prior to version 3.23.0, the fix for the heap-use-after-free described in CVE-2026-24680 is incomplete. While the vulnerable execution flow referenced in the advisory exists in the SDL2 implementation, the fix appears to have been applied only to the SDL3 code path. In the SDL2 implementation, the pointer is not nulled after free. This creates a situation where the advisory suggests the vulnerability is fully resolved, while builds or environments still using SDL2 may retain the vulnerable logic. A complete fix is available in version 3.23.0.Show less
