ext4: fix dirtyclusters double decrement on fs shutdown
fstests test generic/388 occasionally reproduces a warning in
ext4_put_super() associated with the dirty clusters count:
WARNING: CPU: 7 PID: 76064 at fs/ext4/super.c:1324 ext4_put_super+0x48c/0x590 [ext4]
Tracing the failure shows that the warning fires due to an
s_dirtyclusters_counter value of -1. IOW, this appears to be a
spurious decrement as opposed to some sort of leak. Further tracing
of the dirty cluster count deltas and an LLM scan of the resulting
output identified the cause as a double decrement in the error path
between ext4_mb_mark_diskspace_used() and the caller
ext4_mb_new_blocks().
First, note that generic/388 is a shutdown vs. fsstress test and so
produces a random set of operations and shutdown injections. In the
problematic case, the shutdown triggers an error return from the
ext4_handle_dirty_metadata() call(s) made from
ext4_mb_mark_context(). The changed value is non-zero at this point,
so ext4_mb_mark_diskspace_used() does not exit after the error
bubbles up from ext4_mb_mark_context(). Instead, the former
decrements both cluster counters and returns the error up to
ext4_mb_new_blocks(). The latter falls into the !ar->len out path
which decrements the dirty clusters counter a second time, creating
the inconsistency.
To avoid this problem and simplify ownership of the cluster
reservation in this codepath, lift the counter reduction to a single
place in the caller. This makes it more clear that
ext4_mb_new_blocks() is responsible for acquiring cluster
reservation (via ext4_claim_free_clusters()) in the !delalloc case
as well as releasing it, regardless of whether it ends up consumed
or returned due to failure.Show less |

net: hns3: fix double free issue for tx spare buffer
In hns3_set_ringparam(), a temporary copy (tmp_rings) of the ring structure
is created for rollback. However, the tx_spare pointer in the original
ring handle is incorrectly left pointing to the old backup memory.
Later, if memory allocation fails in hns3_init_all_ring() during the setup,
the error path attempts to free all newly allocated rings. Since tx_spare
contains a stale (non-NULL) pointer from the backup, it is mistaken for
a newly allocated buffer and is erroneously freed, leading to a double-free
of the backup memory.
The root cause is that the tx_spare field was not cleared after its value
was saved in tmp_rings, leaving a dangling pointer.
Fix this by setting tx_spare to NULL in the original ring structure
when the creation of the new `tx_spare` fails. This ensures the
error cleanup path only frees genuinely newly allocated buffers.Show less |

RDMA/rxe: Fix double free in rxe_srq_from_init
In rxe_srq_from_init(), the queue pointer 'q' is assigned to
'srq->rq.queue' before copying the SRQ number to user space.
If copy_to_user() fails, the function calls rxe_queue_cleanup()
to free the queue, but leaves the now-invalid pointer in
'srq->rq.queue'.
The caller of rxe_srq_from_init() (rxe_create_srq) eventually
calls rxe_srq_cleanup() upon receiving the error, which triggers
a second rxe_queue_cleanup() on the same memory, leading to a
double free.
The call trace looks like this:

the pinned pages are released with put_page(), and
rm->data.op_mmp_znotifier is cleared. But we fail to properly

Later when rds_message_purge() is called from rds_sendmsg() the
cleanup loop iterates over the incorrectly non zero number of
op_nents and frees them again.
Fix this by properly resetting op_nents when it should be in
rds_message_zcopy_from_user().Show less |

dm: clear cloned request bio pointer when last clone bio completes
Stale rq->bio values have been observed to cause double-initialization of
cloned bios in request-based device-mapper targets, leading to
use-after-free and double-free scenarios.
One such case occurs when using dm-multipath on top of a PCIe NVMe
namespace, where cloned request bios are freed during
blk_complete_request(), but rq->bio is left intact. Subsequent clone
teardown then attempts to free the same bios again via
blk_rq_unprep_clone().
The resulting double-free path looks like:
nvme_pci_complete_batch()
nvme_complete_batch()
blk_mq_end_request_batch()
blk_complete_request() // called on a DM clone request
bio_endio() // first free of all clone bios
...
rq->end_io() // end_clone_request()
dm_complete_request(tio->orig)
dm_softirq_done()
dm_done()
dm_end_request()
blk_rq_unprep_clone() // second free of clone bios
Fix this by clearing the clone request's bio pointer when the last cloned
bio completes, ensuring that later teardown paths do not attempt to free
already-released bios.Show less |

net: mana: Fix double destroy_workqueue on service rescan PCI path
While testing corner cases in the driver, a use-after-free crash
was found on the service rescan PCI path.
When mana_serv_reset() calls mana_gd_suspend(), mana_gd_cleanup()
destroys gc->service_wq. If the subsequent mana_gd_resume() fails
with -ETIMEDOUT or -EPROTO, the code falls through to
mana_serv_rescan() which triggers pci_stop_and_remove_bus_device().
This invokes the PCI .remove callback (mana_gd_remove), which calls
mana_gd_cleanup() a second time, attempting to destroy the already-
freed workqueue. Fix this by NULL-checking gc->service_wq in
mana_gd_cleanup() and setting it to NULL after destruction.

Commit 6...Show moreIn the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
bnxt_en: Fix RSS context delete logic
We need to free the corresponding RSS context VNIC
in FW everytime an RSS context is deleted in driver.
Commit 667ac333dbb7 added a check to delete the VNIC
in FW only when netif_running() is true to help delete
RSS contexts with interface down.
Having that condition will make the driver leak VNICs
in FW whenever close() happens with active RSS contexts.
On the subsequent open(), as part of RSS context restoration,
we will end up trying to create extra VNICs for which we
did not make any reservation. FW can fail this request,
thereby making us lose active RSS contexts.
Suppose an RSS context is deleted already and we try to
process a delete request again, then the HWRM functions
will check for validity of the request and they simply
return if the resource is already freed. So, even for
delete-when-down cases, netif_running() check is not
necessary.
Remove the netif_running() condition check when deleting
an RSS context.Show less |
