emp3r0r is a C2 designed by Linux users for Linux environments. Prior to version 3.21.2, multiple shared maps are accessed without consistent synchronization across goroutines. Under concurrent activity, Go runtime can trigger `fatal error: concurrent map read and map write`, causing C2 process crash (availability loss). Version 3.21.2 fixes this issue.Show less

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: spi: tegra210-quad: Protect curr_xfer check in IRQ handler Now that all other accesses to curr_xfer are done under the lock, protect the curr_xfer NULL check in tegra_qspi_isr_thread() with the spinlock. Without this protection, the following race can occur: CPU0 (ISR thread) CPU1 (timeout path) ---------------- ------------------- if (!tqspi->curr_xfer) // sees non-NULL spin_lock() tqspi->curr_xfer = NULL spin_unlock() handle_*_xfer() spin_lock() t = tqspi->curr_xfer // NULL! ... t->len ... // NULL dereference! With this patch, all curr_xfer accesses are now properly synchronized. Although all accesses to curr_xfer are done under the lock, in tegra_qspi_isr_thread() it checks for NULL, releases the lock and reacquires it later in handle_cpu_based_xfer()/handle_dma_based_xfer(). There is a potential for an update in between, which could cause a NULL pointer dereference. To handle this, add a NULL check inside the handlers after acquiring the lock. This ensures that if the timeout path has already cleared curr_xfer, the handler will safely return without dereferencing the NULL pointer.Show less

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dmaengine: mmp_pdma: Fix race condition in mmp_pdma_residue() Add proper locking in mmp_pdma_residue() to prevent use-after-free when accessing descriptor list and descriptor contents. The race occurs when multiple threads call tx_status() while the tasklet on another CPU is freeing completed descriptors: CPU 0 CPU 1 ----- ----- mmp_pdma_tx_status() mmp_pdma_residue() -> NO LOCK held list_for_each_entry(sw, ..) DMA interrupt dma_do_tasklet() -> spin_lock(&desc_lock) list_move(sw->node, ...) spin_unlock(&desc_lock) | dma_pool_free(sw) <- FREED! -> access sw->desc <- UAF! This issue can be reproduced when running dmatest on the same channel with multiple threads (threads_per_chan > 1). Fix by protecting the chain_running list iteration and descriptor access with the chan->desc_lock spinlock.Show less

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nfc: nci: Fix race between rfkill and nci_unregister_device(). syzbot reported the splat below [0] without a repro. It indicates that struct nci_dev.cmd_wq had been destroyed before nci_close_device() was called via rfkill. nci_dev.cmd_wq is only destroyed in nci_unregister_device(), which (I think) was called from virtual_ncidev_close() when syzbot close()d an fd of virtual_ncidev. The problem is that nci_unregister_device() destroys nci_dev.cmd_wq first and then calls nfc_unregister_device(), which removes the device from rfkill by rfkill_unregister(). So, the device is still visible via rfkill even after nci_dev.cmd_wq is destroyed. Let's unregister the device from rfkill first in nci_unregister_device(). Note that we cannot call nfc_unregister_device() before nci_close_device() because 1) nfc_unregister_device() calls device_del() which frees all memory allocated by devm_kzalloc() and linked to ndev->conn_info_list 2) nci_rx_work() could try to queue nci_conn_info to ndev->conn_info_list which could be leaked Thus, nfc_unregister_device() is split into two functions so we can remove rfkill interfaces only before nci_close_device(). In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mm/shmem, swap: fix race of truncate and swap entry split The helper for shmem swap freeing is not handling the order of swap entries correctly. It uses xa_cmpxchg_irq to erase the swap entry, but it gets the entry order before that using xa_get_order without lock protection, and it may get an outdated order value if the entry is split or changed in other ways after the xa_get_order and before the xa_cmpxchg_irq. And besides, the order could grow and be larger than expected, and cause truncation to erase data beyond the end border. For example, if the target entry and following entries are swapped in or freed, then a large folio was added in place and swapped out, using the same entry, the xa_cmpxchg_irq will still succeed, it's very unlikely to happen though. To fix that, open code the Xarray cmpxchg and put the order retrieval and value checking in the same critical section. Also, ensure the order won't exceed the end border, skip it if the entry goes across the border. Skipping large swap entries crosses the end border is safe here. Shmem truncate iterates the range twice, in the first iteration, find_lock_entries already filtered such entries, and shmem will swapin the entries that cross the end border and partially truncate the folio (split the folio or at least zero part of it). So in the second loop here, if we see a swap entry that crosses the end order, it must at least have its content erased already. I observed random swapoff hangs and kernel panics when stress testing ZSWAP with shmem. After applying this patch, all problems are gone.Show less

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: firewire: core: fix race condition against transaction list The list of transaction is enumerated without acquiring card lock when processing AR response event. This causes a race condition bug when processing AT request completion event concurrently. This commit fixes the bug by put timer start for split transaction expiration into the scope of lock. The value of jiffies in card structure is referred before acquiring the lock.Show less

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: rxrpc: Fix data-race warning and potential load/store tearing Fix the following: BUG: KCSAN: data-race in rxrpc_peer_keepalive_worker / rxrpc_send_data_packet which is reporting an issue with the reads and writes to ->last_tx_at in: conn->peer->last_tx_at = ktime_get_seconds(); and: keepalive_at = peer->last_tx_at + RXRPC_KEEPALIVE_TIME; The lockless accesses to these to values aren't actually a problem as the read only needs an approximate time of last transmission for the purposes of deciding whether or not the transmission of a keepalive packet is warranted yet. Also, as ->last_tx_at is a 64-bit value, tearing can occur on a 32-bit arch. Fix both of these by switching to an unsigned int for ->last_tx_at and only storing the LSW of the time64_t. It can then be reconstructed at need provided no more than 68 years has elapsed since the last transmission.Show less

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: serial: Fix not set tty->port race condition Revert commit bfc467db60b7 ("serial: remove redundant tty_port_link_device()") because the tty_port_link_device() is not redundant: the tty->port has to be confured before we call uart_configure_port(), otherwise user-space can open console without TTY linked to the driver. This tty_port_link_device() was added explicitly to avoid this exact issue in commit fb2b90014d78 ("tty: link tty and port before configuring it as console"), so offending commit basically reverted the fix saying it is redundant without addressing the actual race condition presented there. Reproducible always as tty->port warning on Qualcomm SoC with most of devices disabled, so with very fast boot, and one serial device being the console: printk: legacy console [ttyMSM0] enabled printk: legacy console [ttyMSM0] enabled printk: legacy bootconsole [qcom_geni0] disabled printk: legacy bootconsole [qcom_geni0] disabled ------------[ cut here ]------------ tty_init_dev: ttyMSM driver does not set tty->port. Race condition for some TDX Module before version tdx1.5 within Ring 0: Hypervisor may allow a denial of service. Authorized adversary with a privileged user combined with a high complexity attack may enable denial of service. This result may potentially occur via local access when attack requirements are present without special internal knowledge and requires no user interaction. The potential vulnerability may impact the confidentiality (none), integrity (none) and availability (high) of the vulnerable system, resulting in subsequent system confidentiality (none), integrity (none) and availability (low) impacts.Show less
