The HTTPPasswordMgr class in the urllib.request module, along with its subclasses HTTPPasswordMgrWithDefaultRealm and HTTPPasswordMgrWithPriorAuth, did not take the URL scheme into account when matching stored credentials against a requested URL. Credentials added for an https:// URL were also used for requests to the same host over http://, so an attacker able to redirect or downgrade a client to plain HTTP (for example, via an HTTPS-to-HTTP redirect or an on-path position) could capture credentials in cleartext. Credentials added for http:// URLs could likewise be sent over https://. Credential matching is now scoped by URL scheme. Credentials registered with a URL that includes a scheme are only used for requests with the same scheme. Credentials registered with a bare authority (such as example.com or example.com:8080) continue to match any scheme, preserving compatibility with existing code, including proxy authentication. Users who cannot upgrade immediately can mitigate by ensuring that applications never make plain http:// requests to hosts for which credentials are registered, for example by not following redirects to http:// URLs.Show less

A vulnerability in the web-based management interface of Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN Manager could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to view sensitive information in clear text on an affected system. This vulnerability is due to insufficient access control enforcement for specific template types that are not included in the encryption allowlist. A low-privileged attacker could exploit this vulnerability by viewing logs on the local system or on a remote logging server. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to view sensitive authentication credentials, which could lead to further compromise of network infrastructure and connected services.Show less

Data::Entropy versions before 0.010 for Perl read remote entropy sources over plain HTTP. The Data::Entropy::RawSource::RandomOrg and Data::Entropy::RawSource::RandomnumbersInfo remote sources are accessed over plain HTTP. The Data::Entropy::RawSource::RandomOrg integrity check trivially matches any non-empty byte string. Any on-path attacker, such as open WiFi, a compromised ISP, captive portal, or a hostile egress proxy substitutes the response and thereby chooses the bytes returned by rand_bits and rand_int for every application that selected one of these sources via with_entropy_source. The _checkbuf method response is equally attacker-controlled, so the retry/sleep behaviour is steerable too.Show less

Prior to 18.1.2, Wreck strips credential headers including Authorization, Cookie, and Proxy-Authorization before following a cross-origin redirect, but the origin check compares hostnames only and ignores scheme and port, so credentials are forwarded intact across same-host port changes and HTTPS-to-HTTP downgrades, allowing a co-tenant on an adjacent port or a network-position attacker capable of forging a redirect to capture bearer tokens, session cookies, and proxy credentials and impersonate the victim against the upstream service. Any deployment using `FTPSHook` or `FTPSFileTransmitOperator` to move files over FTPS exposed file contents and credentials-in-transit to a network attacker able to observe the data connection. Upgrade apache-airflow-providers-ftp to `3.15.1` or later, which issues `PROT P` to encrypt the data channel.Show less

From 2.0.0 until 2.7.8, a flaw in Deno's Node.js tls compatibility layer could cause a TLS client to transmit application data in plaintext after a connection retry. When `autoSelectFamily was enabled and the first address-family attempt failed, the socket reinitialization path reused a stale TLS upgrade hook that was bound to the original, failed handle. As a result, the replacement TCP connection was never upgraded to TLS, and any data the application wrote before the secureConnect event travelled over the network unencrypted. A network attacker positioned to cause the initial connection attempt to fail (for example, by dropping IPv6 traffic on a dual-stack host) could deterministically trigger the fallback path and observe or tamper with traffic that the application believed was TLS-protected. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.7.8.Show less

Guzzle is an extensible PHP HTTP client. Prior to 7.12.1, in certain configurations, traffic expected to be protected by TLS on the hop to the proxy is transmitted in cleartext. Proxy authentication credentials (the Proxy-Authorization header, proxy userinfo in the proxy URL, or CURLOPT_PROXYUSERPWD) are sent without encryption, and the CONNECT target host and port for tunneled HTTPS requests are exposed. The built-in cURL handlers (GuzzleHttp\Handler\CurlHandler and GuzzleHttp\Handler\CurlMultiHandler, used by default whenever the PHP cURL extension is available) accept an https:// proxy. libcurl older than 7.50.2 silently treats an https:// proxy as a plaintext http:// proxy. The TLS connection to the proxy is never established, and the proxy leg is cleartext with no error or warning. An application is affected when it sends requests through one of the built-in cURL handlers, configures an https:// proxy expecting the proxy connection itself to be encrypted, and runs with libcurl older than 7.50.2. This vulnerability is fixed in 7.12.1.Show less
