CWE-300

54 CVEs • Abstraction: Class

Channel Accessible by Non-Endpoint

The product does not adequately verify the identity of actors at both ends of a communication channel, or does not adequately ensure the integrity of the channel, in a way that allows the channel to be accessed or influenced by an actor that is not an endpoint.

A vulnerability has been identified where an attacker connecting to an access point as a standard wired or wireless client can impersonate a gateway by leveraging an address-based spoofing technique. Successful exploitation enables the redirection of data streams, allowing for the interception or modification of traffic intended for the legitimate network gateway via a Machine-in-the-Middle (MitM) position.Show less

A vulnerability in the client isolation mechanism may allow an attacker to bypass Layer 2 (L2) communication restrictions between clients and redirect traffic at Layer 3 (L3). In addition to bypassing policy enforcement, successful exploitation - when combined with a port-stealing attack - may enable a bi-directional Machine-in-the-Middle (MitM) attack.Show less

A vulnerability in the packet processing logic may allow an authenticated attacker to craft and transmit a malicious Wi-Fi frame that causes an Access Point (AP) to classify the frame as group-addressed traffic and re-encrypt it using the Group Temporal Key (GTK) associated with the victim's BSSID. Successful exploitation may enable GTK-independent traffic injection and, when combined with a port-stealing technique, allows an attacker to redirect intercepted traffic to facilitate machine-in-the-middle (MitM) attacks across BSSID boundaries.Show less

LocalSend is an open-source app to securely share files and messages with nearby devices over local networks without needing an internet connection. In versions 1.16.1 and below, a critical Man-in-the-Middle (MitM) vulnerability in the software's discovery protocol allows an unauthenticated attacker on the same local network to impersonate legitimate devices, silently intercepting, reading, and modifying any file transfer. This can be used to steal sensitive data or inject malware, like ransomware, into files shared between trusted users. The attack is hardly detectable and easy to implement, posing a severe and immediate security risk. This issue was fixed in version 1.17.0.Show less

A vulnerability in the CLI of Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN Manager, formerly Cisco SD-WAN vManage, could allow an authenticated, local attacker to gain privileges of the root user on the underlying operating system. This vulnerability is due to insufficient input validation. An authenticated attacker with read-only privileges on the SD-WAN Manager system could exploit this vulnerability by sending a crafted request to the CLI of the SD-WAN Manager. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to gain root privileges on the underlying operating system.Show less

Sunshine is a self-hosted game stream host for Moonlight. Clients that experience a MITM attack during the pairing process may inadvertantly allow access to an unintended client rather than failing authentication due to a PIN validation error. The pairing attempt fails due to the incorrect PIN, but the certificate from the forged pairing attempt is incorrectly persisted prior to the completion of the pairing request. This allows access to the certificate belonging to the attacker.Show less

dectalk-tts is a Node package to interact with the aeiou Dectalk web API. In `dectalk-tts@1.0.0`, network requests to the third-party API are sent over HTTP, which is unencrypted. Unencrypted traffic can be easily intercepted and modified by attackers. Anyone who uses the package could be the victim of a man-in-the-middle (MITM) attack. The network request was upgraded to HTTPS in version `1.0.1`. There are no workarounds, but some precautions include not sending any sensitive information and carefully verifying the API response before saving it.Show less
