Wazuh is a free and open source platform used for threat prevention, detection, and response. From version 4.0.0 to before version 4.14.4, multiple heap-based out-of-bounds WRITE vulnerabilities exist in parse_uname_string() (remoted_op.c). This function processes OS identification data from agents and contains a dangerous code pattern that appears in 4 locations within the same function: writing to strlen(ptr) - 1 without checking for empty strings. When the string is empty, strlen() returns 0, and 0 - 1 wraps to SIZE_MAX due to unsigned integer underflow. Due to pointer arithmetic wrapping, SIZE_MAX effectively becomes -1, causing a write exactly 1 byte before the allocated buffer. This corrupts heap metadata (e.g., the chunk size field in glibc malloc), leading to heap corruption. This issue has been patched in version 4.14.4.Show less

Wazuh is a free and open source platform used for threat prevention, detection, and response. From version 1.0.0 to before version 4.14.4, a heap-based out-of-bounds WRITE occurs in GetAlertData, resulting in writing a NULL byte exactly 1 byte before the start of the buffer allocated by strdup. Due to unsigned integer underflow and pointer arithmetic wrapping, the write lands at offset -1 from the buffer, corrupting heap metadata. A malicious actor can potentially leverage this issue through a compromised agent to cause denial of service or heap corruption by injecting a specially crafted alert into the alerts log file monitored by wazuh-logcollector. This issue has been patched in version 4.14.4.Show less

A vulnerability in the bootloader of Cisco IOS XE Software for Cisco Catalyst 9200 Series Switches, Cisco Catalyst ESS9300 Embedded Series Switches, Cisco Catalyst IE9310 and IE9320 Rugged Series Switches, and Cisco IE3500 and IE3505 Rugged Series Switches could allow an authenticated, local attacker with level-15 privileges or an unauthenticated attacker with physical access to an affected device to execute arbitrary code at boot time and break the chain of trust. This vulnerability is due to insufficient validation of software at boot time. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by manipulating the loaded binaries on an affected device to bypass some of the integrity checks that are performed during the boot process. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to execute code that bypasses the requirement to run Cisco-signed images. Cisco has assigned this security advisory a Security Impact Rating (SIR) of High rather than Medium as the score indicates because this vulnerability allows an attacker to bypass a major security feature of a device.Show less

A heap-based out-of-bounds WRITE occurs in decode_win_permissions, resulting in writing a NULL byte 2 bytes before the start of the buffer allocated to decoded_it. A compromised agent can potentially leverage this issue to perform remote code execution, by sending a specially crafted message to the wazuh manager. An attacker who is able to craft and send an agent message to the wazuh manager can leverage this issue to potentially achieve remote code execution on the wazuh manager (the exploitability of this vulnerability depends on the specifics of the respective heap allocator). This vulnerability is fixed in 4.10.2.Show less
